Kumuyi Offers To Resign Over Son's Wedding Controversy, Bride's Father Punished!

Pastor William Kumuyi has offered to resign as General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church following the controversy that trailed his 2nd son's wedding.

Already, the newlyweds had been suspended despite showing remorse and tendering an apology to the church, blaming their misconduct on the fact that both of them had resided abroad for so long.

Sunday Sun gathered that the practice in the Deeper Christian Life Ministry is that if members’ children misbehave, both the children and their parents get punished on the grounds that it’s the parents’ failing in their responsibilities that made the children to err.

Love, who is a daughter of the National Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Jamaica, Pastor Augustine Odih, was dressed in a fitted stylish wedding gown with transparent short sleeves. She also wore makeup, jewelry and carried a bouquet of flowers. The couple cruised in a limousine and had a huge wedding cake

Although the children involved in the Jamaican wedding infraction are adults, the leadership of the church regarded their action as a strong breach of its tradition, and immediately removed the bride’s father, from his position as National Overseer in Jamaica.

To demonstrate that there is no double standard in the church, it was further learnt that Pastor Kumuyi, at the meeting held by the leadership of the church on the matter, offered to resign as General Superintendent, but was prevailed upon not to.

The General Superintendent reportedly did not take kindly to the couple’s behaviour and, unlike Eli in the Bible who did not discipline his sons and incurred the wrath of God, Pastor Kumuyi had ensured that the offenders were sanctioned.

  4. This is what I call impeccable leadership. By the way, all those who have upturned the old dependable way in preference of modern freedom should be wary of giving the flesh an "inch". The flesh is sure to take "a whole trip" to hell!

  6. Well! Churches and their different doctrine. If the groom's father is going to be pardon, the bride's father should also be pardon beside punishment should be meted on the offenders and not their parents they weren't there when they made plans for their wedding besides the couple has apologised"if there is no sin there wouldn't be forgiveness"

  12. Christianity is all about forgiveness. If after the apology, they cannot revoke the suspension and actually forgive, then they are worse than the pagans

  13. Well, they knew the rules, and the dad of all people should have known better, so whatever punishment is dished out should be accepted.

In this day and age people still believe in outdated doctrines. Smh!! Others are busy moving on as time moves on and society changes, while some would rather continue to live by these man-made rules, miserably. Smh!

The difference between a pastor and his congregation is very clear.

For those who are clueless, the deeper life churches abroad are more relaxed than the ones in Nigeria. Now who's fooling who?!

  18. Drama! drama! drama! Why was he stoped? He should have resigned. I'm still wondering what the drama is about. The bride was well dressed. Deeper life people should get a life joor. Thank God I was not born into all these mushroom churches. #Proudly Catholic.

    1. Have you not been reading/watching the news lately?

Let's not go there trying to make Catholic church any better than the others just cos the drama there doesn't involve private jets/wearing jewellery/perming hair/looking better than the members of your church on your wedding day, etc.

  20. why was the bride's father removed from his position? what was his offence? why are the parents punished for the sins of the children? and if this is the case, why should kumuyi remain the love's father be removed?
this is the question we need to ask ourselves. The double standard in this case is just CRAZY. i love kumuyi by the way but we need to be real here. why is love's father reprimanded and snr kumuyi left alone?
GO Kumuyi cant claim ignorance of the happenings as he attended the wedding just like love's father would have. now go figure...
