A 27-year-old woman, Mary Sunday, has been in the hospital bed at Igbobi Orthopaedic Hospital seven months after she was allegedly attacked by her fiancé, Corporal Isaac Gbanwuan, with a pot of boiling stew and a lighted stove.
It was learnt that Sunday had lost her ears due to the attack.
Before the attack, which took place in August 2012, Sunday, was to report for training at the Police Academy, Kano as a cadet officer.
Still nursing severe burns to her neck, chest and upper arms, Sunday can barely sit or walk straight. She holds her head stiffly and talks with difficulty as she recalled the events that led to her present state to PUNCH Metro on Wednesday.
She said, “I have known Gbanwuan for a while, while I was still a student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, but it wasn’t until our marriage introduction in 2011 that I moved in with him at the Pedro Police Barracks, Lagos.
“On the day I was assaulted, Gbanwuan and I went to see our doctor. We had some health issues.
While we were on our way back home, I made a phone call. Immediately we got home, Gbanwuan started querying me. He accused me of keeping lovers and claimed the person I called was my lover.

Ghanaian leading man Majid Michel has joined the Tinsel star studded cast and from Tuesday February 19, will appear on the show where he will be playing himself. He has already completed filming of his scenes for the soap.
Asked why he took on a Tinsel guest role, Majid says:
“A long time ago, I realized that my acting is not only about myself, it’s an extension of many things that I hope for in our industry. So I made up my mind to extend myself to film projects that improve our movie making prospects within the continent. I believe that this can also inspire young actors coming behind me. TINSEL is a typical reflection of that, after all, its’ one of the most successful soaps out of Nigeria."
Finally, the day is here dearies.
The day of kisses, big hearty surprises, proposals and dates, chocolate and gifts, hugs and love songs.
Aww, hope you are getting a truckful of them today.
Cos I am sending so much love your way right now.
Thank you for being there for me, I heartily love ya!
And remember don't wait until it's too late to tell someone how much you love, how much you care.
Because when they're gone, no matter how loud you shout and cry, they won't hear you anymore.
You know yesterday made it one month since I put to bed.
So, to 'celebrate', I thought I review my blog, go through my archive and immerse myself in the memories I've shared with you, my reader over the past 10 months I've been blogging.
Reading my life stories and your comments on the posts.....lool. Really made my day.
Here, just incase you haven't read any of my life (relationship) experiences, in the spirit of the love season, here are links to some of them.
I had started my relationship life quite early with this mindset that I was going to be the best lover ever.
That I was going to give my all faithfully and cheerfully.
And I actually was doing that until this boyfriend took me for granted and dealt me the biggest, most painful major heartbreak that totally changed me. That killed the good girl in me and turned me into this biatch that for some years, I, not giving a damn, dated married men.
It took me two incidents that would have undone me to get back to my senses.
Read the stories here:

An intruder, who reportedly laced himself with charms, was arrested within the Palace of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.
The mission of the intruder was unclear, but being laced with charms signified whatever he was in the palace for must be bad.
The stranger who sneaked into the palace around 6a.m. was said to have been arrested before he was able to fulfill his mission.
Unknown to the suspect, as soon as he jumped into the compound, the palace guards were said to have spotted him. They grabbed him before he was able to make any move.

While most men could be forgiven for assuming that their other halves want to be spoilt with jewellery come Thursday, a new survey has revealed that all women really want for Valentine's Day is a hug. Given the choice, nine in ten women would choose a thoughtful, romantic gesture over a luxury gift of diamonds.
How true is that statement to you?
Acting Governor, Efiok Cobham said this yesterday in Calabar at a town hall meeting - Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, who embarked on a foreign trip months ago, is now hale and hearty and may return to the country this weekend.
Cobham said though Imoke is in Maryland for medical reasons, he is not in any life threatening condition.
