|Beaten: Maimuna Abdullahi, left, is pictured recently at the school in Nigeria which has taken her in after her ordeal|
Maimuna Abdullahi was sold into marriage by her parents for £120 and abused by her new husband, who locked her away and forced hard labour on her.
When she ran home she was beaten, first by her father, then her husband, and was summarily divorced by her husband for daring to flee - and she is still just 14 years old. She is one of thousands in Nigeria with similar stories - and, shockingly, her husband blames his beaten former bride for her ordeal, saying she was disobedient and over-educated.
After fleeing her husband Mahammadu Saidu, who locked her away for days at a time,

A very brief letter signed by all the 23 players, according to NewsBomb.gr, read:
"We do not want extra bonus, or money. We only play for Greece and its people. All we want is for you to support our effort to find a land and create a sports center that will
The former Governor of Abia State just shared this on his Facebook page. You can read the complete post there but here are excerpts.
I have always found it hard to believe that some human beings were merely created by God to cause others discomfort, grief and pain. I cannot fathom any reason a person created by God should behave so barbarically as to take the life of his fellow human being.
But recent events in the world, particularly Nigeria, have caused me to have a re-think. Are you not a witness to the atrocities going on all over Nigeria? From east to west, north to south, the story is the same. To some people, life is not worth anything anymore. They kill and maim as easily as they gulp a glass of wine. This is how brutish life has become in Nigeria.
Worried by this development, I sat through the weekend of last week pondering the sad

You all recall that President Goodluck Jonathan had on Friday written an article for The Washington Post about our missing Chibok schoolgirls and why it seems he has remained somewhat silent about the search for the girls. Read it here if you missed it.
Well, that article has received a rebuke from an unlikely source - Rupert Murdock-owned New York Post. They just shot back at President Jonathan with a sharply critical editorial of their own. Their rebuke titled ‘Goodluck Nigeria,’ took aim at what they called ‘newspaper diplomacy.’
When in April the Islamist group Boko Haram abducted nearly 300 girls from their school in northeast Nigeria, it commanded global attention and sparked a #BringBackOurGirls movement.
But the girls are still missing. The campaign seems to have moved from hashtag demands to newspaper column diplomacy.
On Friday, The Washington Post carried an op-ed by no less than the president of Nigeria himself, Goodluck Jonathan. In it he wrote, “Something positive can come out of
