A mother-of-three infected with HIV by a boyfriend who hid his diagnosis from her says her life has been ruined by the attack which has condemned her to 'a life sentence of misery'.

According to DailyMail, Kara Wilkinson, 42, began a relationship with undertaker Alan Mason, 45, in 2010 without realising he had been diagnosed as HIV positive two years earlier. Mason only revealed he had the illness in October 2011, 18 months after the pair began dating, when Miss Wilkinson became ill following a holiday to Spain.

"No Ebola Case in Nigeria Again" - Minister of Health

Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, has announced that there is “no single current” case of Ebola in Nigeria. Chukwu also confirmed that wife of the late Port Harcourt doctor who treated a primary contact of the index case, Patrick Sawyer, has been discharged from the isolation ward in Lagos. The minister said she was discharged on Tuesday, adding that there was no new confirmed case of Ebola in the country.
“As of today, the total number of confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Nigeria stands at 19, 15 in Lagos, four in Port Harcourt. The total number of deaths from EVD in Nigeria stands at seven. Five of this died in Lagos, one in a private hospital, the index case Mr Sawyer, and the other four 4 in the isolation ward in Lagos State.

Ebola: Lagos Warns against Stigmatization of Survivors, Contacts

Lagos State Government on Tuesday warned  residents against  stigmatizing survivors of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)  or those placed under surveillance. Saying that it will not hesitate to prosecute any resident that stigmatises survivors of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris  gave the warning while briefing newsmen on the efforts of the government to contain the virus. He said the  government had received complaints of stigmatization from some of those who had been treated of the virus, as well as from contacts under surveillance. He said:
“The social problem being faced by discharged cases has been reported to the government. This ranges from stigmatisation, eviction from their accommodation, being asked to stay away from work and termination of employment.

Ebola: OAU Student Quarantined, Confesses Contact with Enemuo

Fear gripped students, parents and staff of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife on Tuesday over a report that a patient on admission at the OAU Health Centre was a suspected Ebola Virus Disease victim.

Though the management of the school initially denied the development, the Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Temitope Ilori, said the sick student had confessed having contact with the late Port Harcourt doctor, Iyke Enemuo, who died of the EVD after he secretly treated an infected ECOWAS diplomat, Olu-Ibukun Koye, in a hotel in the Rivers State capital. The commissioner said the female student had been put in the isolation ward.
Ilori said:

The House of Representatives said on Tuesday that a postponement of the September 22 resumption date for private and public primary/secondary schools in the country was likely. It explained that it had directed its Committee on Education to take “another look” at the date in view of the fact that the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease in the country had yet to be fully contained.

Twenty Nigerian police officers are still missing three weeks after Boko Haram fighters attacked a training academy outside the remote northeastern town of Gwoza, the country’s police chief said on Tuesday. Inspector General Suleiman Abba told reporters that police would “not relent in the efforts of tracing them”.

Initially, police said 35 officers were missing after the attack on August 21. Abba said some had since returned, without explaining how.
