Popular Nollywood Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti is now speaking to The Nation about his marriage to his ex-wife, Funke, and disclosing why he married her despite his disbelief in marriage.
I never believed in marriage. I loved my wife, and got carried away. I am happy about the experience. We got married for a number of reasons; she left home, and many people said she had made the greatest mistake of her life; she got pregnant; and for us to have a certain status for our child; documentation and so on. There were so many reasons to get married.
Now we are great friends, but probably if we had not gotten married, we probably would have still been together. When you get married, if it breaks up, you get into a very bitter street, that makes it is very difficult for people to make up afterwards. Everything goes bitter around you, and hatred comes in. And when hatred comes, you find that many couples can no longer stand each other.

Popular American pastor, John Gibson, has committed suicide six days after his name was exposed by hackers of the Ashley Madison adultery website.
According to Canadian police, at least two suicides were linked to the leak of 32 million customer profiles from the Canada-based adultery site last month - John was one of those who committed suicide.
John's wife, Christi Gibson discovered her husband’s body and a suicide note which chronicled his demons and his shame at being exposed. He was found dead in their New Orleans home on August 24.
Speaking to CNN on Wednesday, Gibson said:
He talked about depression. He talked about having his name on there, and he said he was just very, very sorry.
Nothing is worth the loss of a father and a husband and a friend. It just didn’t merit it. It didn’t merit it at all.”Christi said her husband, who had struggled with depression and addiction in the past, was worried that he would lose his job. She said:
It wasn’t so bad that we wouldn’t have forgiven it, and so many people have said that to us, but for John, it carried such a shame
This Ashley Madison leak just keeps causing more gbese day by day.
Speaking with The Punch on Thursday, the governors outrightly rejected the suggestion that looters of the nation’s resources be sentenced to death. This development stems from the fact that Organised Labour- the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress at the beginning of the week said looters should be given the death sentence in order to serve as deterrence to others.
On their decision, Labour said it was only by killing looters that the anti-corruption crusade being championed by President Muhammadu Buhari could succeed; an action most governors said would be too harsh.
