Building collapses in Owerri; 5 people, corp member feared trapped (photos)

A building opposite Nigerian Police station Egbu road, Owerri in Imo state has just collapsed.

According to Facebook user, Uwakwe Martins, about 6 persons were reportedly trapped inside, including a serving corp member. One person has been rescued.

Rescue operation is currently going on. Pictures below:

    Could it be that nigeria engineers are poorly building houses as to the reasons of so many collapse of buildings and lately. What materials are been used in construction? I guess substandard, a law should be enacted to prosecute engineers & contractors whose building job collapse as a result of poor & cheap materials.

    Government should call the cement manufacturers and cement sellers in order, most of them produce and sells expired cement, IMO state have good deposit of sand, is not swamp nor river line area.
